Friday the CBOT had profit taking and a stronger dollar working against it. Market positioning ahead of the weekend and consolidation trade after the declines on Thursday kept the prices pinned down. The gains were limited as an abundant global supply of wheat acts as an anchor on the wheat markets.

Improved harvest weather for a few days is also weighing on the prices, but outlooks for a return to wet and cool weather by mid-week is keeping the prices from falling to far. The wet weather in the forecast for next week will again slow harvest if it does materialize.

The drier and warmer weather predicted over the weekend through at least Monday will boost harvest of the U.S. corn crop and aid maturation of the immature crop that wasn’t killed by a recent freeze.

The precious metals and crude oil have been on the rise this week with all the excitement that has been in the stock market.

Better weather ahead for the Grand Prairie means harvest will get back underway.
