Friday,   July  17th,   2009

This week the CBOT took us on a roller coaster ride with down days and up days. The commodity prices rallied on Friday after being hit on Thursday. Near perfect growing conditions across the U.S. corn belt have bolstered the second largest U.S. corn crop on record, which is now in its pollination stage.

The dollar rose slightly against a basket of major currencies on Friday after touching a six week low on Thursday due to strong earnings from J.P. Morgan.

Oil prices continue to advance on Friday trading above $63/barrel.

Brazil is one of the world’s biggest importers of wheat. Usually is buys most of its wheat from Argentina, but their recent crop shrank to half of its normal size. That forced Brazil to turn to Canada and U.S. wheat.

The weather in the U.S. is ideal right now for the current crops and that is keeping some kind of a lid on any big rallies that try to happen with the commodity prices.
