The CBOT had some spillover pressure at the end of the week from falling soy and an abundant world supply of wheat continues to weigh on wheat futures, but short covering lends some support.
The soybeans have had good crop growing conditions with adequate rainfall and sunshine. The maturing corn and pod-filling soybeans are soaking up the warmer conditions across the Midwest. The nearby forecast for the next 7 – 10 days has more of the same weather. This has helped kept a lid on the prices in Chicago.
Crude oil and the dollar had been switching roles trading opposite each other to get different reactions in the market. When oil goes up it takes the grains up with it, but when the dollar goes up it makes exporting grains less attractive.
