The CBOT soybean and wheat futures remain weaker ahead of the holiday weekend. Weakness in the neighboring markets is weighing on commodity prices causing potential buyers to take a step back and evaluate the positions they are in.
Precious metals and the dollar are on the rise this week. Gold is nearing $100 oz again and the strength in the dollar makes exports less attractive.
Warmer weather in the U.S. Northern Plains spring wheat region is boosting crop maturity and speeding along harvest, but showers that are forecast for early next week may slow things down some.
Rice harvest is underway on the Grand Prairie. The rain in the forecast may slow things down, but if the rain holds off more farmers should get into the fields over the weekend.
