Greta Lindsey

Director of Product Compliance

As the Director of Product Compliance, Greta Lindsey is the go-between for our sales team and the plant. She handles customer questions, documentation, visits, and audits. Suppose a customer reaches out with a question or documentation need. In that case, Greta takes that, determines which facility the product came from, and works with them to get the customer all documents needed or questions answered.

Greta began working for Riceland Foods over 30 years ago in her hometown of Crowley, LA, as the Assistant Production manager. When that location closed, she moved to Stuttgart, AR, and began serving as the Quality Systems Coordinator. After helping to review and enhance quality systems, her role evolved into her current position. Greta works cross-functionally across all departments to ensure Riceland customers can receive assistance. Lindsey’s favorite part of her job is customer visits because she gets to know the customers, understand their needs, and learn more about how they use our products.

“I think a lot of consumers don’t understand the process and complexity it takes to get rice from a field to their plate,” Greta explains. “So many people rinse their rice. They don’t realize that what they think is dust or dirt on the rice is the enrichment.” The journey of rice from field to plate involves intricate processes that often go unnoticed by the public. The cultivation of rice begins in the field, where farmers invest considerable time and effort in planting, nurturing and harvesting the crop. Following the harvest, rice is transported, dried, milled, and packaged before being transported to customers. Enriching rice is a deliberate step taken to fortify rice and becomes a crucial source of essential vitamins and minerals. The intention is to ensure that the end product on consumers' plates not only meet their dietary needs, but also supports their well-being.

She also mentioned that many people don’t realize that Riceland is a farmer-owned cooperative and that our 5,500 farmer members also own the business, so every purchase goes back to supporting those farmers.

Lindsey spends much of her spare time cooking and even competes in cooking competitions. She prefers cooking rice in a rice cooker and is known for her Bayou Casserole recipe.
